About CinemaConfig

What this site is

CinemaConfig is a home theater planning tool. The core of the site is a system builder that checks whether your components actually work together — impedance and power matching between speakers and amplifiers, HDMI bandwidth, channel counts, room fit — plus a suite of calculators built on real acoustics and electrical engineering, a product database with live retailer pricing, and editorial buying guides that name specific products at specific prices.

Who runs it

CinemaConfig is built and run by Rob Teller, who spent fifteen years on the product side of consumer hardware (NZXT, Asetek, Alienware advisory at Dell, four years leading product and UX at HYTE) before building the home theater planning tool he couldn't find anywhere else. The site is operated by Pretty Impossible Corp.

It's a small operation, and we're open about how it works: drafting, spec aggregation, and the product database are AI-assisted, with editorial direction, fact-checking, and accountability resting with the named editor. The writers page spells out our editorial standards, including what we will and won't claim about hands-on testing.

How the site makes money

Product links are affiliate links — if you buy through one, the retailer pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. Recommendations, compatibility results, and calculator outputs are never influenced by commission rates. The full policy is in our affiliate disclosure.
